Dear Readers,
Happy Tuesday! How much did you all write yesterday?
Today I wanted to address a very important way to find inspiration. I'm pretty sure that most people overlook it. Just like authors read many novels before they start writing, you need to read a lot of poems to help your writing. When you read other people's work, it gives you two types of inspiration. The first one being the theme of that poem. You can always write another poem of your own just keeping that theme in mind. The second type of inspiration that it will give you is the composition, how it looks on the page. It could be in the shape of an object or like a waterfall, all of the lines flowing together till the end. This will provide as inspiration for what your poem will look like. When you read poems, inspiration may not come write away. This is why you should always carry a tiny notebook around so that you can jot down your ideas right away.
Day Thirty Two's Progress:
Today I finished writing all 13 stanzas about the presents I got. Before I wrote them, I sort of wrote down a list of what each present meant to me. This took quite a long time but, it was fast and easy to translate it into poetry. I plan on writing the last stanza tomorow. I am not sure what I want it to be about though. I think it will be about how much I appreciate my parents, but I don't want it to get too cheesy. Any suggestions?
