Summing it Up: Part Two

Dear Readers,

I can't believe it's already Thursday! This week is almost over!

Since it is almost the end of July, today's blog post is going to be summing up all of the suggestions that I haven't written about (this month). Here is the list that I have formulated.

1. Ekphrastic Poetry -- using photos and art to help you write something. You can also think of it as a warmup or exercise. I find it very useful when I have a creative block.

2. Brain Dump -- When you write your first draft, try and write everything down at once. The phrasings, punctuation, composition, and words don't matter yet. All that matters is that the idea gets on the page. Control your inner critic and let yourself loose a little bit.

3. What people think is Giving up -- If you feel really stuck while trying to write something, then you should take a step back and go do something else. After a few hours, or a few days, come back to the piece of writing and take another shot at it. Hopefully, this time you will actually be able to get some words on the page.

Day Thirty Nine's Progress:

Today I didn't do much writing or editing. I had a pretty busy morning so I ended up just editing some punctuation. I also changed a few words here and there. I am still trying to find a good title for the poem though. Any suggestions? Tomorrow I plan on editing a little bit more and maybe even adding another stanza. I also want to find the title later today or tomorrow.

How many poems have you all written so far?
