Summing it Up

Dear Readers,

Hang in there! Friday is almost here. Like I said before, today is not Thursday, it's Friday's Eve.

Today I decided to do some a bit different with Thursday's theme. Since I have written about a lot of ways to overcome "Writer's Block" I decided that in today's blog, I am going to sum all of them up. I think I will do that for the end/beginning of each month sort of as a reminder. Here is the list I have created:

  1. Write everyday. It doesn't have to be perfect just use it as a warm up for the day. Later on you might look back at these warm ups and find that some of them have a lot of potential. Then you can build off of them and create a beautiful poem.

  2. The following week, I gave some prompts. Here they are:

  • Write about an object that brings back several memories and describe those specific memories + how they connect.

  • Write about some idioms and idiomatic expressions and what they might mean to you. An example would be, “you can’t judge a book by its cover”.

  • Pick a color that provokes memories and go from there. How does the color make you feel when you experience it in you daily life? How does the color taste, smell, look like, etc...)

  • Write something about the words you find on street signs or the names of some streets.

  • Choose one of your favorite spices and relate it’s flavor to an event that has happened recently in you life or to any person (yourself, one of your family members, you friend, etc…)

3. Always keep a clean environment when you write. This will help a lot with the creative flow.

4. Try to step away from writing for a few days and instead pick up another creative project. Some creative hobbies/projects include; gardening, painting, cooking, and much more. You can also explore photography, embroidery, and so on. After those few days, you can go back to writing and maybe this time, you will have a bunch of ideas floating around in your head!

Day Nineteen's Progress:

Today I changed up the punctuation a lot. I tried a lot of different things with the punctuation throughout the poem. I also thought that maybe I should continue the music and audience aspect for the rest of the poem. What do you guys think? If I do continue that part then I while probably one to two more stanzas. I actually made the parts about dawn and sunset a little longer. I guess I will see what else I can do tomorrow to make it better.

Writing about a writer's block is better than not writing at all.
