Dancing in a Field

Dear Readers,

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

This Week's Progress:

I wrote a new Ekphrastic poem which I will share with you all today! This week I want to challenge myself and write a poem about Thanksgiving, but not make it too cheesy. When I read thanksgiving poems, either they are too negative, or over the top cheesy. I am going to try and write a poem that will balance the two. I welcome you all to join this week's thanksgiving challenge!

Ekphrastic Poem I Wrote this Week:

Dancing in a Field

A swift breeze

Flowing through my hair,

and soft wheat

tickling my bare feet.

Grounded —

Standing bare foot on wet grass

I hear a bee buzzing next to me.

The universe seems to lift

Off of my shoulders

And float up into the endless sky.

Crystal Clear,

The clouds shimmer

Like a diamond ring,

And the wind sings

A prayer to the old willow tree,

And it's restless leaves.

Like a fresh coat of paint,

The color is delicate,

One smudge

And the memory will shatter to the ground.

Feel free to comment your guys' poems!
