Hiker's Trail

Writer's picture: Golden InkGolden Ink

Dear Readers,

The time has finally to share this weeks poem with you guys!

Day Eighteen's Progress:

Today while I was rereading my poem, I realized that one of the verses is really long. I'm not sure whether I should keep it like that or if I should split it into two verses. I feel like it flows really well so I'm still debating over what I should do. I split it for now though (the second and third stanzas used to be one stanza) . Let me know what you all think! The rest seems fine for now, but will surely make some final edits on Thursday and Friday. I think I will change some of the punctuation. Here is what I've written so far:

Hiker's Trail

Dawn. A glorious morning

Gazing at the flowers

Among the morning dew.

Blue sky, filled with pillows,

Awakes from its slumber. Gentle air

Flowing through the leaves and trees.

The hiker takes his first step.

Taking a step forward

While sitting down in his seat,

Apart of the audience. Prepared.

The music begins, slowly,

He hears the whistling of both

Trees and birds,

The swift breeze making

Everything sway, from side to side

The animals begin their act.

Another step forward.

The drops of water stained on his clothes,

The blinding sun guiding his path.

Trees standing overhead,

Shadows crawling close to the ground.

He looks at the dirt path

Focusing on his feet,

Steep hill, climbing to a new reality

The hiker keeps walking.

Sunset. Splash of colors bleeding

In the sky. The trail is no more,

Yet he keeps walking,

Where is he going?

The hiker does not look back.

Hope you enjoyed reading it! Let me know if you have any suggestions!
