From the Leaf of a Tree

Writer's picture: Golden InkGolden Ink

Dear Readers,

Happy Monday!

Today’s Progress:

Over the weekend I continued to work on both of the first drafts and realized that I liked one much more than the other. Guess which one didn’t click with me? The shoe poem! I guess I will have to keep working on it in the future weeks. On the other hand, the poem about leaves is starting to come together and I will hopefully finish it by this Friday! I plan on adding many more stanzas, but after playing around with a lot of first drafts for this poem, this is what I like best:

(Just to clarify, this is just the beginning, I will add many more stanzas)

From the leaf of a tree

From the leaf of a tree—

comes that one drop of water

that could save a little boy's life,

From the leaf of a tree—

falls a small bird,

ready to learn how to fly

From the leaf of a tree—

small insects

observe their new world,

From the leaf of a tree—

a breath of fresh air,

clean air to fill my lungs.

I hope you like the overall concept of this poem!
