Dear Readers,

Welcome to Poetry & Sugar! I am a middle schooler who has an immense passion for writing, specifically poetry. In this blog, I am going to write about writing poetry while having a somewhat busy life since I am in middle school. I have created a calendar for all of the weeks of the summer so you know what to expect. For now (summer), I will be writing about the challenge that I have started and some other topics. After the summer is over, you guys can except something else.

I am pretty busy from day to day with homework and many other projects so it is hard for me to find time to write a lot of poetry. However, summer has come and I have much more time to write some poems! I have created this summer challenge for you guys and myself so that we can participate side by side and give each other motivation. The rules for the challenge are simple: you just have to write at least one complete poem per week. You are welcome to write more than one if you have the time and you are welcome to not participate in the challenge (though it is strongly sugegsted for the sake of our passions). If you are not a poet and let's say a short story writer, you can totally just tweek the rules and attempt writing one short story per week. You can expect a new blog post on every day of the week not including the weekend. These blog posts will contain my day to day progress and some extra topics that you can find in the schedule below:

What to expect during the summer:

Monday: All of Monday's blog posts will include those day's progress and some questions or suggested topics from you readers.

Tuesday: All of Tuesday's blog posts will have those day's progress and some tips plus suggestions (and much more) on the topic of "Inspiration". You all can also share ideas, suggestions, and tips on how to find inspiration or just write something even if you don't have any ideas.

Wednesday: All of Wednesday's blog posts will have those day's progress and some parts of my poem that I am writing that week. Some weeks the poem that I will put on the blog might be complete while other weeks they might not be complete yet. You guys are welcome to give me feedback and if you put some of your poems on the comments, I can give you guys some feedback too.

Thursday: All of Thursday's blog posts will have those day's progress and some tips plus suggestions (and much more) on the topic of "Writer's Block".

Friday: All of Friday's blog posts will have those day's progress and recommendations for novels, poetry books, etc... + poems or concepts that I have some thoughts on to share with you guys + and writing news too.

Day one's progress:

Today I decided to just try and find an idea of what my poem should be about. After making a few lists of ideas, I decided that my poem is going to be about ravens. I was walking outside a few days ago, and I saw something really sad. There was a few ravens that were eating an owl in some kind of a tree. I have seen this happen a lot, so the theme of this week's poem is going to be about ravens and their cruel manner. I didn't have much progress today since some days I have more ideas than others and today was not one of those days but there will definitely be more progress documentation when I start writing the actual poem.

Hope you enjoy this week's poem when I share it on Wednesday!
